Dan Purjes, former owner of Ascutney Mtn. Resort, has given notice that his company, MFW will no longer allow us to maintain and enjoy our trails on 110 acres of their land at the base of Ascutney. (Red area on the map.) We have until January 16, 2017 to remove all signs and structures from the property. Please take notice that these 5.4 miles will no longer be a part of the public Ascutney Trails network after that date. He has given us no reason for this decision, but offered to keep them open if we pay MFW’s real estate taxes of about $14K - which would more than triple the annual operating budget (if his demands stop there.) STAB is investigating alternate routes and options for replacing the core of our novice terrain. Expect a busy spring.
