Trail Closings 9/23, 29 & 30

Part or all of Ascutney Trails will be closed during the coming weekends.

Sunday, 9/23

All trails will be closed to mountain bike traffic Sunday morning 9am until noon. As part of the Ascutney Outdoors Center grand opening celebration, Ascutney Outdoors will be hosting an equestrian ride from the center to Kimball Farm Road and back. As the horse route extends across the trail network (and back), and some riders/horses do not have experience sharing trails with bikes, we are closing the entire network for this morning for everyone's safety. FYI, please be aware that at other times, horses are always allowed on designated (double track) trails, so be prepared to slow down and talk to horse/rider so that the horse knows you are coming, and that you are a human, not some alien, wheeled beast that makes clicking noises.

Please join us at 1:00 for a guided MTB ride, food and music, in celebration of the opening of the AOC

Saturday & Sunday, 9/29 & 30th

The ski side trails and trailhead will be closed all day to mountain bikes due to youth and high school MTB races and fun runs on Saturday and the Vermont 50 bike race and ultra run on Sunday. The Town Forest trail head will remain open both days. Saturday, we ask that you stay west of Just Smile, and on Sunday trails will be closed beyond the point where Bypass almost meets the top corner of Mile Long Field and Falls Trail. Thanks for your patience with these events that make it possible to keep the trails open.
