What have we done?
Established a presence -We began in the fall of 2005 as 5 individuals who saw a need for protecting, maintaining and creating human-powered recreational trails in our community. As 2011 unfolds, we are a group of about 100 dues-paying members. We have made contact with local authorities and surrounding trail-related organizations, and have over 300 people join our website.
Maintained and Fixed existing trails
Built New Trails - Lots of them, on both public and private land.
Established Ascutney Trails - We obtained permission to create a network of trails on over 250 out of 1000 acres in West Windsor Town Forest and Ascutney Mountain Resort. A map is available at Brownsville General Store and is being sold to the public. Signs have been posted at all intersections.
Landowner Relations - STAB produced a tri-fold brochure to give to members and landowners. It contains contact information, landowner liability info, trail projects and other important historical facts.
What are we going to do?
Existing Trails - Starting with a member-wide Trail Survey on April 13th, we will look into what trails need fixing or improving.
Ascutney Trails - Some new trails will be added on the lower ski slopes.
Activities - Hosting the Vermont MTB Fest July 13-14
